Tammie Richards, LMSW

she/her

You have a voice and you deserve to live a life of empowerment.

I became a therapist after seeing mental health stigmas in underserved communities.

Initially, I strived to be an agent of change due to my own negative experiences receiving “help” from professionals who weren’t helpful. Shifting from frustration to empowerment, I wanted to become a positive light and help people build life-changing skills to overcome difficulties.

I work with anyone seeking a safe space to process life experiences and move toward greater wellness. Even when things are going well, therapy can allow you the space to discuss all of the feelings/emotions that we have on our life journeys.

We all need to someone to talk to from time to time. Support from our family and friends is important, but a trained therapist can offer an outside perspective grounded in professional knowledge and evidence-based guidance for positive mental health outcomes.

I would love to hear your story and offer support, kindness, and compassion.

"Tammie is fun! She makes therapy something you look forward to. At the same time, she knows when to create space for painful emotions and she'll join you in confronting those emotions so that you can truly heal from them."
"She is a huge social justice advocate and seriously cares about all people, especially underrepresented groups who may be experiencing social oppression. Tammie cares so much about empowering people to have a loud voice. She gets it. She understands."
"Tammie is great with couples. She's very good at helping people strengthen their communication skills and she is good at helping to uncover the real problems going on. She guides people and helps to solve problems in a compassionate way."

You can expect a relaxing, calm, and comforting environment when working with me. You can also expect an empathetic listener, someone who challenges thoughts in a non-judgmental way, and above all, someone who is compassionate, caring, and responsive to your needs.

I never make assumptions about anybody, because you truly never know what a person is struggling with or overcoming in their lives. You know yourself best. We can take it one step at a time. In our initial session, we can do whatever is most comfortable for you.

I am here for you and want to make you feel as supported as possible. We’ll go at your pace and tackle whatever issues feel important to you.

FAVORITE SELF-CARE

Shopping, spending time with my family, getting my hair done, cleaning, cooking, and watching a good movie! I take self-care very seriously because I know how much it helps my own mental health.

FUN FACTS

I am a lefty, but right-hand dominant. I only write with my left hand and do not use left scissors! I cut just fine with right-handed scissors 🙂

LIFE MOTTO

Life is too short to be anything but happy, so if there are things, people, or places that make you unhappy and you have the ability to change them, then go for the change!
