Jessica Opel, LMSW

EMDR Therapist

I want you to feel safe, comfortable, and empowered.

Sometimes, it can feel like other people possess a radiance and confidence that we ourselves lack. But truthfully, the same light that you might see in others, is shining within YOU, too! We just have to uncover it. You deserve to feel amazing about yourself, your life, and your place in the world. Let’s work together to uncover the brilliance that lies within you and illuminate the way toward a more authentic, fulfilling life.

As a dedicated therapist, my commitment lies in providing comprehensive and effective support to individuals seeking guidance with their mental health and well-being. I adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines, ensuring that my interventions are evidence-based and tailored to the unique needs of each client. I collaborate with clients to identify and challenge negative patterns of thinking and behavior that may contribute to their distress. By fostering self-awareness and providing practical coping strategies, I assist people in developing healthier ways of managing their emotions and navigating life’s challenges.

My therapeutic approach integrates strength-based and person-centered techniques, emphasizing YOUR inner strengths and fostering a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. I truly believe everyone deserves to know that they and their feelings matter. We are all human and deserve to have compassionate and genuine support.  I also am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for trauma work. EMDR incorporates bilateral stimulation to help clients process traumatic memories and alleviate associated symptoms, promoting healing and resolution of trauma-related distress.

Above all, my priority is ensuring your comfort and providing a space where you feel genuinely heard and understoodI deeply respect your experiences and acknowledge that you are the expert on your own life. Your thoughts, feelings, and insights are important to me, and I approach our work together with warmth and curiosity for your unique perspective. I strive to empower you to trust your instincts, tap into your inner wisdom, and make choices that align with your values and goals. Together, we will collaborate as equal partners, working towards greater self-awareness, growth, and well-being.

"Jessica is a sweetheart! I felt immediately comfortable upon meeting her. She is incredibly kind and very open and non-judgmental. She really believes in you."
"Amazing at EMDR therapy, which is so important for trauma work. She creates a safe space for talking about painful things and healing from the past."
"I love talking to Jessica because she's warm and nice and listens to your goals and the things that you actually want to accomplish. She follows your lead and helps you feel more empowered."

Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for helping others. Whether it was cheering up friends, being a listening ear, or always showing I care, supporting those around me has always been a natural part of my life. It seemed only fitting that studying and becoming a mental health professional would align with my desire to ensure that others know their feelings and needs matter.

I believe that therapy serves as a sanctuary where you can freely express and release your inner battles, feelings, and desires to a non-biased professional. It’s a space where hope is cultivated, reassuring you that change is not only possible but achievable. Within the therapeutic environment, embracing your authentic self becomes not just a goal, but a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Being able to play a part in supporting others and witnessing them improve their lives because of the skills they’ve learned in therapy feels like an incredible privilege. It brings me immense fulfillment to see individuals grow and flourish.

Throughout this process, remember that you are never alone. No matter what concerns or challenges you are facing – stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship issues, family conflicts, unmet emotional needs, anger, disappointments, low confidence, perfectionism, ADHD, or any other number of concerns – your experiences are important to me. No two clients are like. I’m here to listen and understand your unique circumstances. I will never tell you what to do or steer you in a direction that doesn’t align with your goals. The truth is that you likely have a lot of your own answers within you, and my job is to help you find clarity to discover what feels right for you.

If you feel ready, I would be completely honored and excited to meet you!

I love playing with my son and our dog, it brings me so much joy and laughter. Nature walks also provide a peaceful escape from daily stresses. When I need a pick-me-up, I enjoy watching funny videos that uplift my mood, and on quiet evenings, nothing beats the soothing ambiance of lighting candles and snuggling up with a cozy blanket, allowing me to unwind and recharge.
