I became a Registered Dietitian because I am determined to bridge the gap between the lack of healthcare and nutrition education in underserved, minority communities. As a Latina who grew up in an area with a shortage of healthcare professionals and resources, I quickly learned about the gaps and injustices that exist in not only healthcare but also in obtaining basic living necessities. I dedicated my academic career to gaining knowledge on how to serve and give back to my community in ways that expand beyond my lived experiences.
I am passionate about helping individuals build joyful, healing relationships with food and their bodies, as well as supporting people with various medical conditions that can be improved with gentle nutrition. I utilize a weight-inclusive approach to my work and practice from a Health At Every Size® (HAES®) lens. I believe that it is important to meet people where they are in order to help them move toward where they want to be.
I welcome people of all backgrounds and identities to work with me, and I strive to bring warmth, gentle curiosity and understanding to every session. Our sessions are dedicated to you and your experiences so that together we can digest all parts of your life that contribute to where you currently are in your nutrition journey without judgment. We are dynamic beings with unique needs and bodies that crave nourishment in different forms. I look forward to helping you figure out how to reconnect with your body.
My favorite ways to practice self-care include skin care, doing my nails and trying out fun designs, baking and experimenting in the kitchen, trying new foods, and embroidery. I of course enjoy all of these activities the most when I’m doing them while listening to music. I can easily get lost in the music and spend hours making playlists. I also love walks with my pup and taking him to new places. He likes being my sous chef and will sometimes be my taster, for quality assurance, of course!
You matter.
You’re never alone.
We care about you.
