Together, we’ll explore ways to harness your strengths to create meaningful change and build a life that feels completely authentic to you.
My journey toward becoming a therapist began over 28 years ago when, as a teenager, I found myself captivated by my mom’s psychology textbook. I remember poring over those pages, fascinated by the intricacies of the mind and human behavior. My interest became personal as I had my own early experiences in therapy, and I remember vividly telling my mom after one session, “One day, I want to become a therapist.” It felt like a calling, but like so many paths, mine wasn’t linear. Along the way, I explored various interests and gained a range of experiences in social work with diverse populations. Then, during the COVID lockdown, I found myself returning to that early passion for therapeutic work.
One of the most transformative aspects of my journey has been my later-in-life diagnosis of AuDHD (Autism and ADHD). This experience profoundly shifted how I understand myself and the world, as well as how I approach therapy. As someone who has learned to navigate life with AuDHD, I understand the value of self-compassion, identity exploration, and the importance of finding tools and coping strategies that truly resonate on an individual level. I bring this lived experience to my practice, offering a perspective that acknowledges the complexity and beauty of neurodivergence. My aim is to create a space where you feel understood and where we can explore your unique experiences without any judgment.
In our work together, I blend evidence-based therapies with a compassionate and strengths-focused approach. I often draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps increase psychological flexibility and provides ways to connect with what’s truly meaningful to you. With ACT, we’ll look at how you can respond to life’s challenges in ways that align with your values, helping you move toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, especially for increasing emotion regulation and distress tolerance. DBT offers practical tools for managing intense emotions, improving resilience, and navigating relationships more effectively.
I believe in tailoring therapy to fit your unique needs, including exploring mindfulness in a way that respects your sensory preferences. We’ll ease into mindfulness at a pace that feels comfortable, finding a practice that enhances your sense of calm and self-awareness without feeling overwhelming. Together, we can explore identity, nurture self-compassion, connect with your special interests, and find ways to bring out the best in you. Through a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment, I’m here to help you navigate challenges, celebrate your strengths, and work toward lasting change.
What I love most about clinical work is the magic that happens through genuine rapport. There’s a unique connection that builds in the therapy space, and it’s incredibly rewarding to witness someone’s growth unfold within the trust we create together. Each session is guided by the client’s experience in the moment. While we have overarching goals and a treatment plan in mind, I go into every session with an openness to whatever thoughts, feelings, or experiences my client brings that day. Therapy is dynamic, and the real work happens as we navigate through whatever arises in real time, working together toward clarity and change.
My approach is relationship-based, eclectic, and continuously evolving. The foundation of our work together rests on the trust and safety within our relationship, and I’m committed to constantly growing in the way I practice therapy. I’m always reading, listening, or engaging with material that deepens my understanding of therapy — not just to be a better therapist, but because I believe in personal and professional growth for both myself and my clients.
To me, therapy is about stepping outside of our own heads, allowing us to break free from repetitive thoughts and patterns. It’s like misplacing your car keys and checking the same three spots over and over; sometimes we just need a fresh perspective to find what we’re looking for. Therapy creates that space to pause, reflect, and explore our thoughts in new ways.
Ultimately, I believe that each person already has what they need to find healing. My role as a therapist is to help clients discover new ways to use their strengths and resources to foster wellness and self-compassion. I would be honored to start this journey with you!
I am the most at peace when I am outside – hiking, camping, sitting on our deck. I am the laziest trail runner – I use run/walk intervals and I only run when I feel like it, but I run. I love to spend time with my dogs. I like to knit because it challenges me and keeps my hands busy.
You matter.
You’re never alone.
We care about you.
